It's the second week of holiday, and I've been enjoying it so far.

Recently, I went to catch the movie 'Cafe. Waiting. Love'. Frankly speaking, I wasn't so interested in it to the extent that I visit the theatres. And I've got absolutely no idea what the whole movie is about, except for the obvious fact that it's a love story - judging from the poster itself. Nevertheless, I still grabbed some popcorn and drinks along with the ticket, since it was recommended by my close friend. She's a big fan of Giddens Ko, who authored numerous novels, notably 'You are the apple of my eye' as well as 'Cafe. Waiting. Love'.

Back to the movie:
It started off with a college senior of the writing club having a sharing session with the freshmen. He talked about the so called legends of A-Tuo - the protagonist - who actually wears a bikini to school and carries a cabbage around the campus. If being a second year college student makes you a college senior, I suppose A-Tuo is super-duper-senior then. Those freshmen learnt about A-Tuo's background and that his ex-girlfriend was snatched away by a.. er.. tomboyish girl. After listening to all these, Si Ying, the female lead, began to regret her choice of school. Meanwhile, the freshmen were told to clean the clubroom. Si Ying was carrying a box of unwanted diaries which belonged to the graduated seniors, it was too heavy for the poor girl and BOOOOMMMMMM! All the diaries dropped onto the floor and one caught her attention. She was so engrossed in the old diary, filled with drawings and writings about coffee-making, that she nearly got into a car accident while crossing the road. Si Ying fell, and a guy, who gives off an angel-like and gentle vibe, offered his hand. It also seemed that the guy saved her. Awwwww, I bet most girls would fall for such guys, especially when he's handsome too.

The guy later went to a nearby cafe, known as 等一个人咖啡. And we see that he's not alone, as Si Ying followed him and she simply cannot take her eyes off of him. Unknowingly, she walked towards the counter and was met by the tomboyish barista Abusi. Abusi thought that Si Ying came to interview for cafe assistant, and bombarded her with questions about coffee beans and stuffs. Just then, a group of male college students entered and among them was a guy wearing pink bikini. He was addressed as A-Tuo and his friends began to tease him for losing his ex to Abusi. Si Ying, who witnessed all these, stood up for him and lectured the guys for being so childish and not sparing a thought for the poor A-Tuo. Before she could finish her lecture, she was interrupted by the lady boss, who told her to report to work the next day. The lady boss sits on the same spot in the cafe every single day. She looked restless too, and it seemed that she's waiting for someone.

And so, Si Ying decided to work as a part-timer at the cafe, oh well, cos' of the guy. Oh, he's called Zeyu. Si Ying always stole glances of him during work and observed that he always came with different girls every time. Later she decided to confess her feelings but A-Tuo was in the way for two consecutive times. A-Tuo seemed to be impressed by Si Ying's personality and he invited her to a movie, as a token of thanks for defending him at the cafe previously. Si Ying accepted his offer, on the condition that he disappears from her sight from now onwards.

A-Tuo introduced his gangster-like boss, A-Bao, to Si Ying. A-Bao might be fierce-looking, but trust me, he's one of reasons why the cinema was filled with laughter. And we learnt that A-Bao was actually a mediator for triads and the whole mediating process usually takes place right outside his seafood restaurant. It was really funny that A-Tuo asked Si Ying to deliver a plate of fried seafood noodles to that table. And Si Ying reluctantly did so, ending up being scared when the triad bosses asked her to judge who's the one at fault. Trembling, she actually asked is there even a good guy here. Hahaha. Afterwards, A-Tuo sent her home and they confided in each other. Si Ying admitted that she has a crush on Zeyu, while A-Tuo revealed the shocking truth that Abusi was his ex. He said that the scariest thing is not that Abusi suddenly become a lesbian, but the fact that he's no longer in love with her.

The next day, Si Ying, being quite a busybody, asked Abusi about her past relationship with A-Tuo. Abusi was obviously not feeling guilty towards her ex, stating that such thing doesn't exist between a couple. As promised, Abusi told Si Ying about the story of the cafe after one month of her employment. Originally the cafe was ran by the lady boss and her boyfriend. However, one day, her boyfriend died in a car accident, just right outside the cafe. Too bad, the deceased boss is such a rare and nice guy. And Si Ying continued to observe Zeyu and made some progresses by talking to him whenever there's no one sitting opposite him. The summer passed by as A-Tuo and Si Ying become closer too.

Well, to cut the story short, A-Tuo soon realised that he's in love with Si Ying as he was able to magically get hot sausages from the back of her head. He explained that there's this street vendor who always gave him free sausages when he was young; however one day, the uncle died. The uncle, supposedly an angel, granted kid A-Tuo's wish for sausage and hot beancurd - stating that A-Tuo would be able to get sausages from the girl he's in love with, while he'll get a bowl of beancurd when the girl is attracted by him as well. He confessed to Si Ying many times, however she rejected him due to Zeyu. A-Tuo worked very hard and finally managed to save up enough money to travel around the world. Before he go, he decided to ask Si Ying if she's in love with him too. Sadly, he was only able to get sausages and not the beancurd which he longed for, both literally and figuratively.

On the same night that A-Tuo left for Africa, Si Ying gathered her courage and confessed to Zeyu. Previously, Zeyu told Si Ying that he was waiting for a girl like her; pretty like a confession, right? However, that's totally not what he meant.

Zeyu: Yes, I've been waiting for a girl like you. But what I meant was, I've been waiting for someone who can see me, just like how you did.

Ohmygod, Zeyu, you're.. dead?
And you meant that Si Ying had been talking to herself for the past few months?! Oh I see, that's the reason why he's in the cafe with different girls sitting opposite him, since they all can't see him.

That's really... unexpected. And Zeyu began to narrate his story: how he got to know his first love, how he and his girlfriend took a loan from the bank to open their very own cafe, and that he died outside their cafe due to a car accident. Sounds familiar, isn't it? So.. he's the deceased boss of Cafe. Waiting. Love, the guy whom the lady boss can't forget despite all these years. Shocking turn of event, certainly.

Si Ying was touched by their love story; but she's puzzled why A-Tuo could see Zeyu too. Zeyu showed her that she and A-Tuo were fated to be, as both of them are connected by this string of fate. She also found out that A-Tuo was the one who selflessly stood in front of the bus and saved her in the car accident. At the same time, there's a flashback: the fond memories which Si Ying and A-Tuo shared, and how A-Tuo saved her from a knife, whereby his hands bled a lot. Back to present, we see that Si Ying is riding the motorcycle and rushing to the airport to look for A-Tuo, crying non-stop at the same time. The motorcycle stopped abruptly and Si Ying was devastated when she saw the oil meter. Many other drivers on the road looked at her in amazement, as there is a bowl above her head. It is a bowl of hot beancurd, awwww!

A pity that Si Ying did not manage to confess to A-Tuo before he boarded the plane. However, Zeyu, with Si Ying's help, was able to let the lady boss know his final wish: he wanted her to smile like how she did back then, and that he's sorry and regretful that he could not spend his life with her.

After quite some time, Si Ying was still working at the cafe. But this time round, it's for A-Tuo's sake. One fineeeeee day, a dark skin guy entered the cafe, with a parrot in his hand instead of cabbage, and he's got really weird fashion sense. You're right, he's none other than A-Tuo! Si Ying walked towards him, and a bowl of beancurd appeared, along with two sausages. Hahaha!

That marks the end of the movie, and I must say that it was unexpectedly good. I really liked the unpredictable turn of events in the movie and although it might seem a bit lame, overall it's one great movie; an unique love story that's filled with humour, one that makes you feel that love is in the air, yet not overwhelming. Certainly recommended to those who are fans of light romance movies.

1st post: Start of something new : Monday, September 8, 2014

It has been ages since I last visited this blogspot. Was it 2011, or 2010? Oh well, I can't really remember.

And so, I suddenly came to this decision that it's time to clear the dusts and dirt off this space, since it's holidays now; and I guess it's time for me to blog about kpop, just like how I did back then during secondary school. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm still a huge fan of kpop, just that I'm not so obsessed with it.

Perhaps I should post about good food, good company and random stuffs.. Whatever it is, I'll just try to fill this space up, hopefully.
Time for me to get back to Running Man, annyeong!
